Day 25: a wood fire
Fireplaces and wood stoves aren't all that common in Japan, at least not that I know of. When most houses are made of wood and the floor is made out of rice straw, open flames just aren't a great idea. I had been wondering for ages what on earth I was going to post on this day when I saw this cozy little wood stove in the restaurant I had lunch at with the Yoshidas. There was no fire in it as it's not quite cold enough to warrant it, but I was quite excited and snapped a photo none-the-less.
I've never been so ready for or in need of a weekend. It has been pouring down rain practically non-stop since Wednesday, and it doesn't seem like this typhoon is quite finished with us! Tomorrow I will be staying in my futon for as long as possible, then I think a TV marathon is in store (Vampire Diaries, Pretty Little Liars, Survivor, Master Chef Australia, Downton Abbey...I have a lot of catching up to do!).
Also, can you believe Halloween is next week? October has flown by, which is a good thing if you ask me!
I hope you have a lovely weekend!
