I landed in the US on New Year's Eve. Mom and Dad were waiting at the airport, and we headed straight to a little town called Abita Springs to meet my brother for lunch and a beer at the Abita Springs Brew Pub. The brewery is right next door and they have a fun selection of beers to choose from.
Sorry for the blurry picture...I'm gonna blame that on jet lag!
We all had a quiet New Year's Eve at home with my nephew, William (quiet except for the massive fireworks the neighbors were shooting all night long!) and I was passed out pretty early (just like William).
Dad and I started 2014 with cafe au lait and beignets at Cafe du Monde. We spent the rest of the morning sipping on mimosas and preparing our New Year's meal, complete with a whiskey glazed ham, black-eyed peas, collard greens and corn bread! After washing everything down with some pecan pie, Mom, Dad and I decided to head home to Alabama.
So no parties or countdowns for us, but definitely a good start to a new year if you ask me!
