My little office/sewing room has been a work in progress for the past few months. It's still far from finished, but I made major steps this weekend by organizing the room's main eyesore...
You see, our apartment has absolutely no storage. No closets. No little cupboard - nothing. It was up to us to create our own storage solutions. In my defense, the shelves weren't really as bad as that picture leads you to believe! Most of the junk was hidden behind some makeshift curtains I made a few years ago (I had just taken them down before I took this picture). The curtains were a pretty amateur effort, and Bryn and I both knew what was lurking behind.
We picked up some pretty cardboard storage boxes (these and these) as well as a couple of meters of fabric from Ikea. I spent an afternoon sorting things into boxes, and a morning sewing a curtain which gives us a bit more storage space. The end result was this...
It looks tidy and organized. It really makes this room a nicer place to be, which is nice since I spend a good part of my day here! I would like to paint those shelves as well, but there's just not time before we leave. The rest of the room has a ways to go, but it's mostly because I can't decide on exactly how I want it. I'll deal with that after our holiday!
