Today mom, dad and I sailed the hobie cat from the house on the beach back to it's permanent home. We had a fantastic breeze, so the trip took no time at all. It was the first time I had been sailing in years and it was actually a lot of fun! I borrowed my uncle's waterproof camera so I could take pictures of the trip.
There were so many sting rays in the water! We must have seen hundreds swimming just under the surface - some as big as 3 feet wide (about a meter)! The ones in groups flew in a v-formation just like ducks and geese. (Did you know a group of stingrays is called a 'fever'?!?) Others swam right under the boat, and would dive down deep out of sight just as we got over them.
Bryn and my aunt and uncle drove down the beach and got some pictures of us as we were sailing, then met us at the end of the trip with the car.
(I just can't get over the color of the water!!)
It always seemed that when we picked up speed, I happened to be on the low side of the boat and ended up soaking wet!
It looks like there are storm clouds building up outside, and I am a little excited at the prospect of a good thunderstorm since Bryn and I haven't seen rain in months!
