I can hardly believe it's already the second week of September. I've been staying so busy with little projects, keeping house and trips to Dubai that I don't know where the time has gone! My mind is racing with ideas for this blog, a few other side things I want to get started on and little things that need to be done around the house. I really need to sit down and prioritize since we have some rather big trips coming up fast that require some planning. It's good to feel busy though, which really shows me that taking some time off from teaching was the right move.
Anyways, these are a few of the things that have been keeping me busy over the past few weeks.
I made a dress! Just before leaving the US the fabric shop near my parent's house was having a huge sale, so I picked up some really cheap patterns. I had some fabric that I had found at one of the fabric shops here in Al Ain, so I whipped up this little number. I'm really happy with how it turned out and proud of myself - it's the first real, wearable dress I've made!
I also made some cushion inserts in order to turn any bag into a camera bag. The inserts will mostly live in this Leica bag that was my dad's back when he was photographing race cars. He told me I could have it, and it fits my camera gear perfectly.
The cool thing about these inserts is that I can use them in practically any bag. They fit perfectly into my big camel purse, so if I ever need something a bit fancier than the old Leica bag, I have other options.
Now I'm switching from crafting mode into major trip planning mode. I'm so excited for what's to come over the next few months!!
